Lufthansa to Offer Extended Service from Milan
Starting in February 2009, Lufthansa will offer expanded service from Milan's Malpensa airport to various European destinations.
Direct flights will be available from the North Italian city to Barcelona, Brussels, Budapest, Bucharest, Madrid and Paris.
London and Lisbon will be added that following summer.
Next year, Lufthansa will base six Airbus A319s in Italy, which will be operated by Lufthansa’s Italian subsidiary Air Dolomiti.
The flights from Milan can be booked from mid-October via www.lufthansa.com.
At present, Lufthansa operates 185 direct flights per week from Milan Malpensa and Milan Linate to five destinations in Germany.
Of that number, 115 flights go to Lufthansa’s Frankfurt and Munich hubs.
Continental Airlines Revises Flights to London
Continental Airlines is suspending its flights from the New York area and Houston to London/Gatwick Airport to satisfy customer preferences
for London's Heathrow Airport. The airline will add a third daily flight from its Newark Liberty International Airport to Heathrow on October 25.
The launch of the Heathrow flight is subject to government and airport approval. Continental will continue to operate two daily flights from
Houston to Heathrow in addition to the three daily flights from Newark to Heathrow.

Lighters, will be prohibited from sterile areas of Airports and onboard aircraft.
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) announced that all lighters will be prohibited from sterile areas of airports and onboard aircraft. This action is in response to a provision in the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004, which was signed into law by the President on December 17, 2004. TSA Screeners will begin to enforce the ban on April 14, 2005.
